Dm C F G
I’m a drifter, l'm a loner
Dm C F G
And I've seen every city and town
Dm C F G
I’ll pass by here and I'll die here
Dm C Dm C F G
And some stranger will lower me down

Dm C F G
I've sat in the shade of an oId apple orchard
Dm C F G
Watched the big trucks rollin' by
Dm C F G
Shared a grape soda with a man from Dakota
Dm7 G6 Dm C F G
And seen a June bug in July

I’m a drifter...
Dm C F G
I’ve played basketball through the hoop of a barrel
Dm C F G
Struggled to learn how to swim
Dm C F G
Though I sometimes think maybe I once was a baby
Dm7 G6 Dm C F G
I only pretend I was him

I’m a drifter...

Dm C F G
I’ve made love in your city til the poor and the pretty
Dm C F G
Thought I was clever and smart
Dm C F G
I’ve ended up lonely with nothin’ but only
Dm7 G6 Dm C F G
A song and a half of a heart

Dm C F G
I’m a drifter, l'm a loner
Dm C F G
And I've seen every city and town
Dm C F G
I’ll pass by here and I'll die here
Dm C F G
And some stranger will lower me
Dm C Dm
Stranger will lower me down
