Nowhere To Hide

by Eric Carmen
Eric Carmen

Biography:

Eric Carmen (former vocalist of The Raspberries) is a pop/rock musician and singer-songwriter well known for his first single "All By Myself" (released in 1976) and his 1987 comeback single "Hungry Eyes" (written by J. DeNicola and F. Previte for the iconic 'Dirty Dancing' soundtrack). The former, a smooth ballad, was penned by Carmen based on a classical theme by Sergei Rachmaninoff. It was more recently covered by Celine Dion and also used in the opening scene of the movie 'Bridget Jones' Diary'.

Nowhere To Hide

G E7 Am
Lovers come and lovers go but it's never twice the same
G E7 Am
Happiness is hard to show when you're numb to all the pain
F C
And I've been floatin' 'round like an old newspaper
F C
Blowin' down some windy street
Bb F G
Feeling so alone and incomplete

G C Bb F C
But there's nowhere to hide where the night can't find me
Bb F C
Where the light of the sun can't blind me
Bb F C
Like the light in a woman's eyes
Bb F C
There's nowhere to hide from the dream that drives me
Bb F C
Like a fire burning deep inside me
Bb F C
Oh, I know she'll be there tonight

G E7 Am
Can the future be foretold in a faded photograph
G E7 Am
Can a dream be bought and sold, well, I guess I have to laugh
F C
Sippin' on a scotch and soda, a shadow in the corner booth
Bb F G
So philosophic and drunk on grown-up truth

G C Bb F C
But there's nowhere to hide where the night can't find me
Bb F C
Where the light of the sun can't blind me
Bb F C
Like the light in a woman's eyes
Bb F C
There's nowhere to hide from the dream that drives me
Bb F C
Like a fire burning deep inside me
Bb F C
Oh, I know she'll be there tonight

Cm7 Gm7
Half-forgotten fragments of a high school dance
D# Cm7
In the dead white hours of winter
Fm D#
When we loved so hard that we thought it would never end
Cm7 Gm7
Tryin' to remember how it used to feel
D# Cm7
When a kiss was something special
Cm7 Fm G
And I wonder now will it ever be again

G C Bb F C
But there's nowhere to hide where the night can't find me
Bb F C
Where the light of the sun can't blind me
Bb F C
Like the light in a woman's eyes
Bb F C
There's nowhere to hide from the dream that drives me
Bb F C
Like a fire burning deep inside me
Bb F C
Oh, I know she'll be there tonight
