Electric President

Good Morning Hypocrite

by Electric President
Electric President

Biography:

Electric President is the second of Ben Cooper's projects, this time with Alex Kane. The sound is a mix with folk, pop, electronic, with a sound that would be very much like if you threw The Postal Service, The Decemberists, The Flaming Lips, and George Orwell in a large blender.

They've recorded two albums and one EP under the Electric President moniker, all available under the German imprint Morr Music, with a third to be released in early 2010 on Fake Four Inc.

There is a version of this already on Ultimate Guitar, but some of the chords do
not sound 100% right. As it is one of my favourite songs I thought I'd offer up a
kind of re-layed out correction. For those of you wanting to jump straight in,
I've provided the basic chord structure in brief before the main event, but this
is at best an awkward structural gimmick.

----------IN SHORT----------
Intro/Verse/Chorus : F C G
Bridge: C Em F C Bb F G# Bb C
C G F G C
Verse: F C G
Outro: F C G
------------------------------
Intro:
F C G

Verse:
F C G
Seems like the roads stretch out like veins, but there's no heart.
Nature's haircut is concrete now, and we played our part.
So we sing ... (F C G)

I've lost my taste for modern things. They're not for me.
I want mundane: a quiet place, where time is free,
And I can sing ... (F C G)

Bridge:
C Em F
Crawled from my bed, to collect the thoughts that had
C
fallen from my head,
Bb F G#
And you watched me sink, through the carpet, through the
Bb
basement, and beyond.
C
And you didn't blink.

C G F G C
On the glass, I traced the sun with my thumb. It sank into the ground.
C G F G C
And then the stars were blinking like kids who were staring into the wind.
C G F G C
So I climbed through the window and walked until I lost my name.
C G F G Am
Now I can play the victim. It's fine. I've seen it on TV.
G
But if there's one thing I know, it's that I never really
F
know enough.

Verse:
F C G
Our hands, our mouths, our brains, our lungs: they're just machines.
F C G
These hearts are all that we've got left, and they don't beat.

Outro: F C G

Live a little, talk a lot; it's the way this goes.
I've come to fear the little knives beneath their well-pressed clothes.
Their arms are reaching; reach is spreading through the neon glow.
Their mouths are moving, but their voices sound like telephones.
The traffic hums; the traffic grumbles near my old window.
The street lights flicker; glow and hover like suspended snow.
I used to watch the moon retreat and wonder where it goes.
Now I just wonder why my head is overrun with ghosts.
