Intro: D D/C# Bm D A G7 D

D
If I was a poet
D/C#
Or maybe a king
Bm D
Then I could explain to you how my heart sings
A G7 D
Whenever I look in your eyes
D D/C#
Like a hummingbird trapped in my chest, I would say is
Bm D
Just how it felt on that glorious day
A G7 D
When I first, when I first saw you

Bm D
Together we'll know true freedom
Bm D
From all earthly constraints
Bm D
Dissolving brilliance, Bright colors
E7 D*
In the picture God paints

D
Here take these pills
D/C#
I don't know what they do
Bm D
And I've already swallowed more than a few
A G7 D
I promise your mother she won't even notice they're gone
D C/C#
And what was that song that Youth Minister Ted
Bm
Sang after his sermon
D
It's been stuck in my head
A G7 D
The chorus went, it went something like this

Bm D
Together we'll know true freedom
Bm D
From all earthly constraints
Bm D
Dissolving brilliance, Bright colors
E7 D*
In the picture God paints

D D/C#
The popular kids that ignored us at school
Bm D
Will whisper our names as the tears fill the pool
A G7 D
We'll look down upon them and laugh
D D/C#
As rosy cheeked angels join us in cheers
Bm D
Where no one is lonely and there's nothing to fear
A G7 D
I wish I could go there right now
A G7 D
I wish I could go touch you right now

Bm D
Together we'll know true freedom
Bm D
From all earthly constraints
Bm D
Dissolving brilliance, Bright colors
E7 D*
In the picture God paints

D D/C# Bm D A G7 D
Ahhh...

D
If I was a poet
D/C#
Or maybe a king
Bm D
Then I could explain to you how my heart sings
A G7 D
Whenever I look in your eyes
