[Verse 1]
Dm Dm Dm Am
Farewell, my lovely Nancy, for it's now I must leave you
Dm Dm Dm Am
All along the salt sea I am bound for to go
Dm Dm Dm Am
But let my long absence be no trouble to you

For I shall return in the spring, as you know

[Instrumental]

Dm Dm Dm Am Dm

[Verse 2]
Dm Dm Dm Am
Like some pretty little sea boy I will dress and go with you
Dm Dm Dm Am
In the deepest of danger I will stand your friend
Dm Dm Dm Am
In the cold stormy weather when the winds are a-blowin'
Dm Dm Dm Am Dm
My dear, I'll be willing to wait for you then

[Instrumental]
Dm Dm Dm Am
Dm Dm Dm Am Dm

[Verse 3]
Dm Dm Dm Am
Well your pretty little hands, they can't handle our tackle
Dm Dm Dm Am
And your dainty little feet on our top mast can't go
Dm Dm Dm Am
And the cold stormy weather, love, you can't well endure
Dm Dm Dm Am Dm
I would have you ashore when the winds, they do blow

[Instrumental]
Dm Dm Dm Am
Dm Dm Dm Am Dm

[Verse 4]
Dm Dm Dm Am
So farewell, my lovely Nancy since it's now I must leave you
Dm Dm Dm Am
All along the salt sea I am bound for to go
Dm Dm Dm Am
But as you must be safe, oh, be loyal and constant
Dm Dm Dm Am Dm
For I shall return in the spring as you know

[Outro]
Dm Dm Dm Am
Dm Dm Dm Am
Dm Dm Dm Am
