Six days on the Road

[Intro]
G D G
I pulled out of Pittsburgh rolling down that Eastern Seaboard
D
Got my diesel wound up and she’s a running like never before
C D G C
There’s a speed zone ahead but alright; I don’t see a cop in sight
G D G
Six days on the road, and I’m gonna make it home tonight

G D G
I got me ten forward gears and a sweet Georgia overdrive
D
I got the pedal to the medal and my eyes are open wide
C D G C
I just passed a Jimmy and a White, I’ve been passing everything in sight
G D G
Six days on the road, and I’m gonna make it home tonight

G D G
It seems like a month since I kissed my baby bye bye,
D
I got a lot of woman, but I’m not like some other guys
C D G C
Got my air horns runnin’ clear; You wanna watch the way I shift my gears
G D G
Six days on the road, and I’m gonna make it home tonight

[Instrumental]
G D G
ICC is checkin’ on down the line,
D
Honey I’m a little overweight; and my log book is way behind,
C D G C
Nothin’ bothers me at night; I can dodge them scales alright
G D G
Six days on the road, and I’m gonna make it home tonight

G D G
My rigs a little old, But it don’t mean she’s slow
D
There’s a flame from her smoke stack and that smoke’s black as coal
C D G C
My home towns comin’ in sight; If you think I’m happy, you’re right
G D G
Six days on the road, and I’m gonna make it home tonight
