Dr. Dog

Both Sides Of The Line

by Dr. Dog
Dr. Dog

Biography:

Dr. Dog is a indie rock group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which formed in 1999. The current lineup consists of Scott "Taxi" McMicken (vocals, guitar), Toby "Tables" Leaman (vocals, bass), Zach "Text" Miller (keyboards, guitar), Frank "Thanks" McElroy (guitar) and Eric "Teach" Slick (drums).

"There's a little folk, blues, indie rock, soul, bluegrass--and a whole lot of down-home harmonizing. It conjures images of old friends sitting on a porch swapping instruments and just letting the tape recorder run." - Doug Wallen

[Intro]
F C G C x2

[Verse 1]
Am
Well another day's gone by
G
The dawn so long ago
F
And the memories keep flying high
C F
And the moments go so slow
F C
'Cause I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Verse 2]
Am
And I'm five kinds of senseless
G
My heart is beating slow
F
Yeah, I got struck by lightning
C F
And I was sad to see it go
F C
'Cause I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Interlude]
Am G F C F

[Chorus]
F C
'Cause I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Verse 3]
Am
Well I'm sitting at the head,
G
Stealing my own show
F
And the plates are up on sticks
C F
And I'm spinning tales of woe
F C
'Cause I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Verse 4]
Am
And there once was an answer
G
But now I don't care to know
F
In the service of the question
C F
I just had to see it go
F C
'Cause I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Interlude]
Am G F C F

[Chorus]
F C
Yeah I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Verse 5]
Am
And I'm easy in the ether,
G
Swinging to and fro
F
Lighter than a feather
C F
With a mountain range in tow
F C
'Cause I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Verse 6]
Am
And the fruits of my own labor
G
Bears a seed I'll never sow
F
Yeah, they cut down my pride
C F
But I was glad to see it go
F C
'Cause I'm on both sides of the line
G C
Bitter on the fruit and sweet on the rind

[Outro]
F C
I'm on both sides of the line
G C Am G F
Bitter on the fruit
C F
Sweet on the rind
