Don Mclean

Wonderful Baby

by Don Mclean
Don Mclean

Biography:

Donald McLean III (born October 2, 1945) is an American singer-songwriter, best known for his 1971 hit song "American Pie", an 8.5-minute folk rock "cultural touchstone" about the loss of innocence of the early rock and roll generation (US #1 for four weeks in 1972 and UK #2).

McLean's grandfather and father, both also named Donald McLean, had roots originating in Scotland. The Buccis, the family of McLean's mother, Elizabeth, came from Abruzzo in central Italy.

WONDERFUL BABY - Don McLean

Chorus:
Bb A7
Wonderful baby, living on love,
Bb G7
the sandman says maybe, he'll take you above.
C7 F#7
Up where the girls fly on rhythms and bows,
Bb F#7 F
where babies float by just counting their toes.

Bb A7
Wonderful baby, nothing but new,
Bb G7
the world has gone crazy, I'm glad I'm not you.
C7 F#7
at the beginning, or is it the end
Bb F#7 F
goes in and comes out and starts over a - gain.

Chorus:
Bb A7
Wonderful baby, living on love,
Bb G7
the sandman says maybe, he'll take you above.
C7 F#7
Up where the girls fly on rhythms and bows,
Bb F#7 F
where babies float by just counting their toes.

Eb Ebm7
Wonderful baby, I watch while you grow,
Bb G7
if I knew the future you'd be first to know,
C7 F#7
but I don't know nothing of what life's about,
Bb F#7 F
just as long as you live, you'll never find out.

Bb A7
Wonderful baby, nothing to fear,
Bb G7
laughing you will, but doubt what you hear,
C7 F#7
They'll whisper sweet things and make you want truth,
Bb F#7 F
so be good to yourself, that's all you can do.

Chorus:
Bb A7
Wonderful baby, living on love,
Bb G7
the sandman says maybe, he'll take you above.
C7 F#7
Up where the girls fly on rhythms and bows,
Bb F#7 F
where babies float by just counting their toes.

Outro:
Bb F#7 F
where babies float by just counting their toes.
