Em B7 C G G6

[Verse 1]
Em B7 Em B7
Last Saturday evening I came to the old oak tree
Em B7 C G G6
It stands beside the river where you were to meet me
Em B7 Em B7
On the ground your glove I found with a note addressed to me
Em B7 C G G6
And it read "Dear Love, I've done you wrong, now I must set you free"

[Chorus]
B7 Em B7 Em
Moody River, more deadly than the vainest knife
B7 G G/A G/B C G G6
Moody River, your muddy water took my baby's life

[Instrumental Break]
Em B7 Em B7

Em B7 C G G6

[Verse 2]
Em B7 Em B7
I looked into your muddy waters and what did I see
Em B7 C G G6
I saw a lonely, lonely man just looking back at me
Em B7 Em B7
Tears were in his eyes and a prayer on his lips
Em B7 C G G6
And with the glove of his lost love there at his finger tips

[Chorus]
B7 Em B7 Em
Moody River, more deadly than the vainest knife
B7 G G/A G/B C G
Moody River, your muddy water took my baby's life

[outro]
B7 G G/A G/B C G G6
Moody River, your muddy waters took my baby's life
