The chicken coop

C D
Time takes over, may we do it again

[Chorus]

Take me to the beachhead let's go over
C Am D
All of those rocks at the end of the road
G D Am D Em
And take me down to main street with no clothes on with our bare feet on the
C G Am Em
Painted yellow lines with our shadows far behind us
C G Am D
Broke into that summer school and fooled around on the infirmary cot
C G Am Em
And we can be like all those fairies making their rain angels in the eddies
C G Am
And I have no expectation just an adolescent heart

the one where the kids break out of juvie
C G Am D
And then by their own admission they go and turn themselves all in
C G
Just as they get there to the station,

The young one wheels and begs the pavement

For brother speed to make arrangements with the spirits of the night

[Chorus]
G D Am
Take me to the race track let's go bet on
C Am D
Aw the one that no one expects to win and
G D Am D Em C
Let's bet on the skinny horse he will surely try the hardest to come in first
G Am Em
I bet you for the winner they put on some kind of fancy dinner
C G
Let's be like those Philadelphia sisters
Am D
That have prayed straight for a hundred years
C G Am Em
I have no expectation, just to be here in the present
C G Am D
And behold you for a second before it all goes away

[Outro]
Em
Haa ah ahh ah ahh ah ahh ah ah
C
Ahh ah ahh ah ahh ah ahh ah ah
Em
Ahh ah ahh ah ahh ah ahh
Am D
Before that all goes away
Em

Em
Ahh ah ahh ah ahh ah ahh ah ah
Am D Em C
Ahhh ahhh and those painted yellow lines with our shadows far behind
Em Am D
Broke into that summer school and fooled around on the infirmary cot
Em C
We can be like all those fairies making their rain angels in the eddies
Em Am D
And I have no expectation just an adolescent heart
