Destroyer

Loves Of A Gnostic

by Destroyer
Destroyer

Biography:

Destroyer is a Canadian rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia fronted by singer-songwriter Dan Bejar and formed in 1995. Destroyer songs are characterized by abstract, poetic lyrics and idiosyncratic vocals. The band's discography draws on a variety of musical influences, resulting in albums that can sound markedly distinct from one another; in Bejar's words, "That's kind of my goal: to start from scratch every time."

1996–2001
We'll Build Them a Golden Bridge, Destroyer's 1996 debut, is made up of sixteen lo-fi home-recordings.

E A F#m
Rip the badges from our breasts

B G#m A
Just like the others

B G#m A E G#m F#m A
Impenitent brothers sway to the song of a new heretical dawn

B G#m A
We were right to fight

Subsumed by dumb clay

B G#m A
The sweet spirit must stay

E F#m A G#m C#
x2

C# A
I'm so, I don't know, what's the word?

E F#m
My grasp of the verb is a weak one

A C#
Your grammar's a playground for fun

C#

E A F#m
Tear the emblems from our sleeves

B G#m A
Just like the others

B G#m A E G#m F#m A
Apostate brothers please stay for the dawn of a new day

B G#m A
Watch the sun come up from the mud

B G#m
Our cups are empty

A B
Our wine has turned to ether

G#m A
That's good and fine

E F#m Am7
Nothing does a body good

G#m7 F#m
Like another body

Nothing does a body good
Like another body
Nothing does a body good
Like another body
Nothing does a body good
Like another body
