Destroyer

Biography:

Destroyer is a Canadian rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia fronted by singer-songwriter Dan Bejar and formed in 1995. Destroyer songs are characterized by abstract, poetic lyrics and idiosyncratic vocals. The band's discography draws on a variety of musical influences, resulting in albums that can sound markedly distinct from one another; in Bejar's words, "That's kind of my goal: to start from scratch every time."

1996–2001
We'll Build Them a Golden Bridge, Destroyer's 1996 debut, is made up of sixteen lo-fi home-recordings.

Babieca

A#maj7
La noche pasada soñé
Am7
que Murcia iba a desaparecer,
A#maj7
la noche pasada soñé
Am7
que Murcia iba a desaparecer.

A#maj7
La noche pasada soñé,

Granada ya no existía,
Am7
ni rastro de Almería,

la noche pasada soñé.
A#maj7
No, no sé para qué,
Am7
no sé para qué me desperté.

A#maj7
Tu voz me sacaba del catre,

me decía que fuera,
Am7
tu voz me sacaba del catre,

yo atravesaba Alicante,
Gm7
diez tierras que hubiera delante
Am7
conocerían mi espada.

Gm7
Más Babieca que yo aquí no hay,
Am7
más Babieca que yo aquí no hay,
Gm7 C/G
más Babieca que yo aquí no hay, no.

A#maj7
Mi espada era Tizona

y mi caballo Babieca.
Am7
Mi espada era Tizona,

tú eras doña Jimena.
Gm7 Gm9
Crucé un desierto de pena
Gm7 Am7
que parecía Arizona.

A#maj7
Era una tierra de infieles,

de muchos gitanos y payos,
Am7

A#maj7
Con caballo o sin él,
Am7
será mejor que vaya a donde estés,
Gm7
será mejor que vaya a donde estés,
F
será mejor que vaya a donde estés.
