Im Not Crying Youre Not Crying Are You

by Dear and the Headlights
Dear and the Headlights

Biography:

Dear and the Headlights was an Indie-Rock band from Tempe/Chandler, Arizona.

Joel Marquard (guitarist and keyboardist) and Ian Metzger (lead vocals and acoustic) started playing together in roughly 2002. Marquard convinced Metzger that they needed to start a band, but Ian was reluctant due to a somewhat negative experience with the Christian band called Justifide he co-founded in 1999. He finally gave in and Marquard quickly found PJ Waxman, who initially

[Intro]
G (Hammer off and on low E)

[Verse]
G
Did the seesaw nights put their hands on you?
Am G Am G
I can't really say, I can't really say
G
Are you swinging from the eaves in a tasteful noose?
Am G Am G
I can't really say, I can't really say
G
You're following a flashlight down utility halls
G
And then you mumble to yourself that this has all been your fault
Am C G
And oh, you're not laughing, you're not laughing, are you?
G
And now some local loser with a tape and a badge
G
Wants you to answer from the list of pointless questions to ask
Am C G
And no he's not sincere, you're not sincere, are you?

[Pre Chorus]
G Bm G Bm
Then the howls and moans pour from the black and it's a sea of blank faces straight to the back
C Em
Aggressively mediocre in every single way
C
Yet you're the only reason that they came

[Chorus]
G C Am D
So if you have to keep singing then singing should be fine
G C
And if it ain't what you had pictured
Am D G
Yeah that sounds about right

[Verse]
G
Does it matter much to me to mean a thing to you?
Am G Am G
I can't really say, I can't really say
G
They blather incessantly, every drossy last one
G
And then they clamour for attention vomiting opinions
Am C G
But oh you weren't asking, you're not asking, are you?

[Pre Chorus]
G Bm G Bm
Ain't it hard when you discover that the only thing you've ever loved is passing your hat
C Em
and anything that's got a pulse is doing just the same
C
and you're the only reason that you came

[Chorus]
G C Am D
So if you have to keep singing then singing should be fine
G C Am D
And if it ain't what you had pictured then yeah that's about right
G C Am D
Said if you have to keep singing then singing should be fine
G C Am D G
And if it ain't what you had pictured then yeah that sounds about right
