David Ramirez

Harder To Lie

by David Ramirez
David Ramirez

Biography:

David Ramirez is an American singer-songwriter from Houston, TX, currently based in Austin, TX.

By breaking through heartache, Ramirez has gone on a search for understanding. The Austin, TX, resident and frequent traveler to clubs, theaters and listening rooms all over the country, has come to a phase in his creative life where the tears have dried and moving on looks like the best option.

That change in perspective hasn’t erased the weary searching that has characterized Ramirez’s sparse Americana songwriting for more than a decade.

The intro riff and pre-verse riffs are the same, just a few hammer on and offs on your lower
three strings primarily. Also at the end of the chorus he just does a walk down in a C. First Am of
the verses little hammer on the low E. Enjoy!

[capo 2]
[Intro]

Am C F Am C G

[Verse 1]

Am F C
The first impression, is what I've always been best at
Am F C
You never questioned me or my intentions
F C G
I could be your best friend The minute you shake my hand

[Verse 2]

Am F C
When it comes to women this could be deadly
Am F C
When it comes to loving me you best be ready
F C G
'Cause this will get heavy, when you'll learn just what I am

[Chorus]

F Am
I fed you fables and fooled you with words from my tongue
F G
Trying to make you think I was a better man than I was
C F Am F
But if you're asking me now to tell you the truth
C F C/G
It's getting harder and harder to lie to you

[Instrumental]

Am C F Am C G

[Verse 3]

Am F C
How did you get here did you seek me out?
Am F C
Were you an answered prayer for me to shut my mouth?
F C G
So I would learn how to open up my heart
Am F C
'Cause I never stuttered and I never thought twice
Am F C
I never folded or shook, the moment always felt right
F C G
To do what I like and I live in the dark

[Chorus]

F Am
I fed you fables and fooled you with words from my tongue
F G
Trying to make you think I was a better man than I was
C F Am F
But if you're asking me now to tell you the truth
C F C/G
It's getting harder and harder to lie to you

[Break]

Am F C/G
Am F G

[Chorus]

F Am
I fed you fables and fooled you with words from my tongue
F G
Trying to make you think I was a better man than I was
C F Am F
But if you're asking me now to tell you the truth
C F C/G
It's getting harder and harder to lie to you
C F C/G
It's getting harder and harder to lie to you
C F C/G
It's getting harder and harder to lie to you
