Dave Gunning

Twitters Song

by Dave Gunning
Dave Gunning

Biography:

“There's a song in there somewhere," sings Dave Gunning optimistically on his seventh album We're All Leaving, but the Pictou County, Nova Scotia performer is being far too modest.

Scoring three 2010 East Coast Music Award Nominations for Songwriter, Male Solo Recording and FACTOR Recording of the Year, and recently named as a Finalist in the Great American Song Contest and International Songwriting Competition for his song, Before The Morning Sun (co-written by James Keelaghan), Gunning is on the move.

CAPO: 2nd Fret

INTRO: C F C F

C F
He was one of a kind in a two-bit world
C F
A three-ring king of the carnivals and Summer fairs
G F
A tumbling clown with a painted face
G F
Carney talk with his lady, Grace
N.C. C F
He'd go anywhere

C F
By the harbour's edge stood a Ferris wheel
C F
Built out of scrap from shipyard steel
G F
Ten cents a ride, the kids lined up
G F
Pennies thrown in a rusty cup
C
For the tumbler

CHORUS:
Am C F
Talk beneath the moon
G Am
Sleep beneath the sun
Dm C F G
To live in a land of "Going To Do"
F C F C F
And die with nothing done

C F
The mud cells, the cities and the old tank towns
C F
The people all cheered to his leaps and bounds
G F
In faded red, we'll make it, [Rez]
G F
"We'll make the best of this", oh, that's what he says
C
And he did so

CHORUS:
Am C F
To talk beneath the moon
G Am
To sleep beneath the sun
Dm C F G
To live in a land of "Going To Do"
F C Bb F G F C G
And die with nothing done___

C F
On a granite base stands a two foot clown
C F
Just another stop outside of town
G F
He looked so sad, but he could make us laugh
G F
A circus life with an epitaph
C
To remember

CHORUS:
Am C F
To talk beneath the moon
G Am
To sleep beneath the sun
Dm C F G
To live in a land of "Going To Do"
Ab C
And die with nothing

CHORUS:
Am C F C
To talk beneath the mo-on
F G Am
To sleep beneath the sun
Dm C F G
To live in a land of "Going To Do"
F Bb C
And die with nothing done

OUTRO:
F C
(Talk beneath the moon) Nothing done
F C
(Sleep beneath the sun) Ohh, nothing done
F C F
(In a land of "Going To Do")
