[Verse 1]
E A A7
As I hear the mocking birds, I remember your words,
E B7
When you said that forever you'd love me,
E A A7
Now happiness is gone, and all those heartaches linger on,
E B7 E
From the chains of our love I set you free.

[Chorus]
A E7 A A7
Sweet as the morning, smile like the sunshine,
D A E7
Ours was a love no words could tell,
A E7 A A7
I love you, oh how I miss you,
D E7 A A7
Won't you come back, Lily Dale.

Since we have said good bye, I'm so blue I could cry,

Days without you, make my nights so blue,

And always in my heart, our love will last.
