This is a fun song to play, and has an interesting song structure. While most music sticks to the
four-line phrase, Danny Michel has mixed things up here and gone with five lines per phrase. It
may take some getting used to, but stick with it, because this is a fun song to play.

This song uses a bass strum pattern, with the full strums on the 2 and 4 beats of the bar

Just listen to the official music video here and play along:

It's possible to use a capo to reduce the number of barre chords, but it eliminates
the transition chords you can play at the end of the second line

[Intro]
F#m

[Verse 1]
F#m A
I went to the country to escape the noise and lights
Bm C#7 F#m E F F#m x2
And I lay there in the pine cones all night
F#m C#
I woke in the morning and all the trees were gone
D7 C# F#m
I got this sinking feeling...everything felt wrong
Bm C#7
There were strip malls and dollar stores and diesel in the air

[Verse 2]
F#m A
So I slept in a rowboat and I anchored far from shore
D F F#m E F F#m x2
Now I don't hear them chainsaws no more
F#m A
I woke in the morning when someone pulled the plug
Bm C# F#m
I was stranded in the lake-bottom sludge
Bm C#7
With all the tires, paint cans, and things

[Chorus]
F#m Bm A D
Well every little critter in feather fur and fin
A D F7
Cried to mother nature to come back for them
F#m D E F#m
For every piece of litter, for every little sin
F#m Bm E F#m
She cried for all of them, feather fur and fin
F#m Bm E F#m
She cried for all of them, feather fur and fin

[Verse 3]
F#m A
So I went to an island down the Caribbean way
D F F#m E F F#m x2
And I laid there in the sand all day
F#m C#
I turned on a radio and I heard the DJ say,
D7 C# F#m
"Well batten down the hatches down Santa Elena way."
Bm C#7
I swam the ocean reef, but the coral all was grey

[Chorus]
F#m Bm A D
Every little critter in feather fur and fin
A D F7
Cried to mother nature to come back for them
F#m D E F#m
For every piece of litter, for every little sin
F#m Bm E F#m
She cried for all of them, feather fur and fin
F#m Bm E F#m
She cried for all of them, feather fur and fin

[Bridge]
Bm E
She saw the eagle's eye, weeping in the willow
F#m Bm
She prayed to the mantis, and she cried into her pillow
E Bm7
For the salmon in the Fraser, and the salamander's kin
F#m Bm E F#m
She cried for all of them, yeah feather fur and fin
F#m Bm E F#m E F#m E F#m
She cried for all of them, feather fur and fin

[Saxophone Interlude]

[Verse 4]
F#m A
Well I went to the city when all the trees were gone
D F F#m E F F#m x2
And I laid there on an asphalt lawn
F#m C#
And she cried out a thousand days of hurricanes and floods
D7 C# F#m
Her face ran with tears, and the streets ran with blood
Bm C#7
Fur coats and sushi boats and diesel in the air

[Chorus]
F#m Bm A D
Every little critter with feather fur and fin
A D F7
Cried to mother nature to come back for them
F#m D E F#m
For every piece of litter, for every little sin
F#m Bm E F#m
She cried for all of them, feather fur and fin
F#m Bm E F#m
She cried for all of them, feather fur and fin

[Outro]
F#m Bm E F#m
Feather fur and fin, she cried for all of them
F#m Bm E F#m E F
Feather fur and fin, she cried for every fin
F#m E F F#m
F#m E F F#m
