[Intro]
G#m

[Verse 1]

G#m
The disengagement of the bubble’s hypnotizing
F#
Some say below the doughy crust the beast is rising
E
We like to talk about the past
C#m
We like to talk about the past

[Verse 2]

G#m
We talk about the past like it’s the strangest dream
F#
We repeat the thing we never dreamed we’d do
E
I understand that sometimes we all must dance with fuckery
C#m
But everybody’s pissing in the well of our suffering

[Pre-Chorus 1]

G#m
I want to breathe in all the ashes of the books they tried to burn
F#
I want to feel the pages in my skin and understand the words
E
Castrate fiction, call it circumstance
C#m
They say her wanderings are dangerous
G#m E/G#
All she wants to do is dance
F#/A# E/G#
Dance

[Chorus 1]

G#m
Question period’s
E/G#
Over, don’t you
F#/A# E/G#
Feel it, I do

[Verse 3]

G#m
You’ll be pummeled by the certainty of minions
F#
It’s a puppet show, a theatre of opinions
E
A chorus of flack
C#m
Feeder of the pack

[Verse 4]

G#m
You can hear the shaky timbre of the voices most alone
F#
Yeah it’s easier to sing within the crowd
E
Those who pretend to believe hardest might actually begin to
C#m
The nature of the bliss the warmth of ignorance gives into

[Pre-Chorus 2]

G#m
I want to breathe in all the ashes of the books they tried to burn
F#
I want to taste resilience on my tongue and love beyond concern
E
Mass-grave subtlety, leave it for the birds
C#m
They say the world it might be dangerous
G#m
But all it seems to do is turn

[Chorus 2]

G#m E/G# F#/A# E/G#
Bitten by the hand that feeds you
G#m E/G# F#/A# E/G#
Holding to what you’re beholden to
(Question period’s over, don’t you feel it? I do)
G#m E/G# F#/A# E/G#
Bitten by the hand that feeds you
(Question period’s over, don’t you feel it? I do)
G#m E/G# F#/A# E/G# G#m
Holding to what you’re beholden to
