The Last Great Washington State

[Verse 1]
F C/G
Never be sorry for the lack of response
G
Your hand on my arm before we were lost
F C/G
The horizon just laughed to see us fall off
G
Your face in a jar I constantly dropped
F C/G
You have him now but I'll have you later
G
The phone is a gossip
G
The clock is a murderer
F
My time is her burden
C/G
Your voice is his slumber
G
How long have we been here?
G F C/G G
I can't quite remember my name

[Verse 2]
F C/G
I had you pegged as one who would throw me
G
C/Gway from your shoreline
G
Into the galaxy
F
Where moons are a fool
C/G
Stars climb eternity
G
Long after voids
G
C/Gnd handwritten destiny
F C/G
Long after voices return from the telephone
G
Cut off from color
G
Leave everyone you know
F
They'll let you down
C/G
I'll let you talk into the sky
G F C/G G
That he keeps turning off like a light

[Verse 3]
F C/G
Praises fall short from the hands of the choir
G
Who all stand in judgment and funerals pyre
F
Now that your dead
C/G
They wait for the symphonies
G
Conductors retire to the bed of our sympathy
F C/G
Losing our minds on yesterday's tragedy
G
C/Gre you surprised they're singing in harmony?
F
Flooding the hallways
C/G
I notice the exit signs pointing the way out
G F C/G G
I knew they were on to us all along

[Verse 4]
F C/G
Your suitcase fits well in the room you are living in
G
Quick to leave town
G
Is it how you imagined it?
F
C/Glone with your ghosts, and the
C/G
question mark protagonist
G
Leaving you in deserts in search of answers
F C/G
To all of the questions that lead to more questions
G
C/Gfraid to stand up or lose your salvation
F
Stop and rewind
C/G
They all change the station
G
The story hits home to close for their liking
F C/G
"Stick to the script where you lovers are dying"
G
Bored and annoyed
G F C/G G
"You're not even trying to turn us on"

[Verse 5]
F
C/Gnd building was on fire
C/G
When I saw you step out
G
C/Gfraid of your ghosts, and highly in doubt
C/G
When you knew all along,
F
Not even your cloud
G
Would ever withstand the song from your mouth
F
So they took all your scripts,
C/G
C/Gnd the rain from your eyes
G
They're cashing it in for the next passing ride
F C/G
To some other city you made up in your mind
G
They missed when you died
G
So they're hitting rewind
F C/G
What good is living if you can't write your ending?
G
You're always in doubt of the truths you're defending
F C/G
Seeing yourself in others ideas
G
I'll write you from somewhere,
G
C/Gnd call you from later on
F
I'll need a good time,
C/G
You'll need a daydream
G
Helplessly helpless
G
"I am alive, can you hear me?"
F
Sleeping in motion
C/G G
I love you Washington State

[Refrain]
F
Sleeping in motion
C/G G
I love you Washington State
F
C/Gsleep in a motion
C/G G
I love you Washington State
