They Return To Their Earth

by Current 93
Current 93

Biography:

Current 93 is an eclectic British music group, working since the early 1980s in experimental-based musical forms. The band was founded in London, UK in 1982 by David Tibet (né David Michael Bunting, renamed 'Tibet' by Genesis P-Orridge sometime prior to forming the group).

Tibet has been the only constant in the group, though Steven Stapleton (of Nurse With Wound) has appeared on nearly every Current 93 release. Michael Cashmore has also been a constant contributor since Thunder Perfect Mind.

Title: They Return To Their Earth

G Em C D x2

G Em C
When serpents come
D G
They cover the Christ Thorn
Em C
Two heads and cock heads
D G
Serpents feed of emotion
Em
Lidded eyes and smudged realities
C D G
Everything has two faces
Em C
One is earthly without true form
D
The other blackened and blackening

G Em
Mother is in the fields
C D
Father is in the fields

G Em C
You know well its tortured form
D G
It's locked within a particular place
Em C
It's locked within a particular form
D G
It's jailed by a falling light
Em C
With angles shapes and sighs
D G
It's held by twowood
Em C
It's held by threeplace
D
It's a name that has no name

G Em
Mother is in the fields
C D
Father is in the fields

G Em C
It's a form creating formless
D
Formless creating form
G Em C
Oh, four towers read them backwards
D G
Do not spell their sound
Em
Do not move to their lies
C
Speak the words
D G
And they create the universe
Em C
And
D
They destroy all universe

G Em
Mother is in the fields
C D
Father is in the fields

G Em
Heavy-lidded eyes
C
Do not mask the pain
D G
They shade us from the burning light
Em
Listen: one face one form
C D
One truth one light
G
I see it through the staining glass
Em C
I see it fractured in the world

(This is not true -
D
It's appearance only)

G Em
Mother is in the fields
C D
Father is in the fields

G
An eagle flies
Em
His bloody face
C
Behind bloody claws
D G
Behind bloody cause
Em C
His pain is blackened rain
D G
His reign is Romanzion pain

It is not finished
Em
It happens now
C D
Matchstick men in a matchstick world
G
Match the prick with the sickle
Em C
Make the sickle slice the corn
D
Time stops when he was thirty-three

G Em
And mother is in the fields
C D
Father is in the fields

G Em
Time stops when I'm thirty
C D
Time stops then
G
And time stops there

Then is now
Em
Why do we not see it?
C D
Time stops time breaks time holds
G
Time ceases
Em
The pestle grinds the mortar
C
The mortar turns to dust
D
The metal turns to rust
G
Words they fail
Em
And they fall apart
C
The Corn it dies
D
And is reborn

G Em
Mother is in the fields
C D
Father is in the fields

G Em
Blond hair moves in the blond corn
C
Boyd wears black
D
And he talks of death
G
But all his face
Em
Spell out light
C
Michael's on the roof
D
He's kissing a Rose
G
Blood drops come
Em
From the heart of her life
C
Something hangs
D
Above there in the skies
G
Something hovers
Em
Above his brown hair
C
Life la-las
D
In the background of light
G
And the birds don't sing
Em
When the curtain snaps
C
Anita's in Ireland
D
She's falling over rocks
G
Scars are for her scarring
Em
Scars are for her pain
C
And all her scars
D
Meet in a falling star

G Em
And some make money from weapons

Blood
C D
And some make money from hunger

Blood
G Em
And some make money from politics

Blood
C D
And some make money from fear

Blood
G Em
And some make money from religion

It's blood
C
The world falls apart
D
The world starts to cease
G Em
And mother is in the fields
C D G
Father has died in the fields
