Black Flowers Please

by Current 93
Current 93

Biography:

Current 93 is an eclectic British music group, working since the early 1980s in experimental-based musical forms. The band was founded in London, UK in 1982 by David Tibet (né David Michael Bunting, renamed 'Tibet' by Genesis P-Orridge sometime prior to forming the group).

Tibet has been the only constant in the group, though Steven Stapleton (of Nurse With Wound) has appeared on nearly every Current 93 release. Michael Cashmore has also been a constant contributor since Thunder Perfect Mind.

Title : Black Flowers Please

Intro/Vocals Only:

Oh when I saw you standing there
Wild flowers dying in your hair
Child of harvest time coughing up musk
Black flowers' dull perfume trailing in dusk
Hoisting dark pennants at the spike of the hill
Your smile started bleeding and then the mill
Shearing and sharing your love and your rage
Whilst dog's head descending
Spewed out a new age

It isn't very good
In the dark dark wood
In the middle of the night
When there isn't any light

Main Part:

C/E G
There are four corners to the world she said
C/E G
And every one is manned with fire and ice
C/E G
Through black glass darkly I can see her truth
C/E G
Arrayed and raised and raising walls of war
Em G
She points to squares of wax and writes backwards
Em G
I veil my face from her and from her light
Em G
The pointless games she plays out for want of power
C/E G
To slake her bloodlust and for sake of pain
C/E G
Her ugly shapes breeding in her secret mound
C G
The Call of Aethyrs and the Dog Star Crawl
C G
There's one cracked bottle with no label on
C G
She nods and gestures limply with her broken smile
C G
Do you fear death she says to me and shows me seven stars
C G
The seven seals of her seven years
C G
of Rose Cross madness
Em A
Well christus tell us that little children suffer
C/E Em
It's only right that we should learn to suffer too!

Interlude/Vocals Only:

The first seven are red as blood
The second seven not so red
The third seven like whitish smoke
And all the world seemed to be in darkness
And all the world seemed to be in brightness

C/E G
There are four corners to the world I lie
C/E G
In forms of fire have lurked across its floor
C/E G
And little banners displaying their little creeds
C/E G
Have made our season on earth as red as poppy fields
( C/E G ) x2
C/E G
There are four corners to the world she sighs
C/E G
There are four corners to the world she cries
C/E G
There are four corners to the world she lies
C/E G
There are four corners to the world she dies
