Safe Here – Craig Cardiff
Capo 4
This is probably my favourite song by Craig. From the album Floods and Fires.

Intro:
C, G, Am, F X2

Verse 1
C G Am F
Our words came out sharp like edges of knives
C G Am F
When all we needed was to talk things through
C G Am F
This is a process of learning that love is
C G Am F
Not what we say but what we do

Pre-chorus
C G
This is my country
Am F
This is your country too
C G Am F
There are so many things we need to change
C G Am F
It’d be too easy to let them overwhelm us
C G Am F
It’d be too easy to let things stay the same

Chorus
C G Am F C G Am F
Am I Safe Here (yes you’re safe here)
C G Am F C G Am F
Am I needed here (yes you’re needed here, yes you are yes you are)

Verse 3
C G Am F
They told us that this was not our problem
C G Am F
How this was none of our concern
C G Am F
And then they chiselled and they chiselled and chiselled
C G Am F C G Am F
until everything we loved and everything we earned was taken away from us

Pre-chorus

Bridge
G
Am F G
While we stood around and talked about it
Am C F G
They took it all away
Am F
While they argued about the cost
G F Am G C
They brought it back and said here you go, pay, pay, pay

F, Am G

Verse 5
C G Am F C G Am F
We won’t remember any of these meetings
C G Am F C G Am F
We won't remember the things you did or did not own
C G Am F C G Am F
This is the part where you throw your hands up in the air
C G Am F C G Am F
You said I thought I could but I can't do it on my own

Pre-chorus
C G
This is my country
Am F
This is your country too
C G Am F
There are so many things we need to change
C G Am F
It’d be too easy to let them overwhelm us
C G Am F
It’d be too easy to let things stay the same

Chorus
C G Am F C G Am F
Am I Safe Here (yes you’re safe here)
C G Am F C G Am F
Am I needed here (yes you’re needed here, yes you are yes you are)
C G Am F C G Am F
Am I Safe Here (yes you’re safe here)
C G Am F C G Am F
Am I needed here (yes you’re needed here, yes you are yes you are)
