La banda Dio debutó en 1983 con Holy Diver, plástico con éxitos como Stand Up and Shout, Rainbow in the Dark, Don't Talk to Strangers, Holy Diver... En la portada del disco se veía a un demonio lanzando a un clérigo encadenado al mar.
