It was Christmas Eve in a little Texas town
D7 G
The snow was falling softly to the ground
C G
Outside a little chapel stood a man
D7 G
With sightless eyes a candle in his hand

C G
Oh Lord if you're there help me in
D7 G
I need to light a candle for a friend
C G
He came from a land across the sea
D7 G
They call Him the Man from Galilee

C G
And no one seemed to hear his lonely cry
D7 G
They laughed with Christmas cheer and walked on by
C G
Inside they watched a clock upon the wall
D7 G
Put silver in the box and left the hall

spoken:
Soon the church was quiet in the night
And one-by-one the candles lost their light
In darkness now the old man knelt to pray
D7 G
Forgive them Lord they must have lost their way

C G
Oh Lord if you're there hear my prayer
D7 G
Let the message of Your birthday fill the air
C G
Let the lesson of your life help us see
D7 G
That Christmas is the Man from Galilee

repeat #2
