Concrete Blonde

Take Me Home

by Concrete Blonde
Concrete Blonde

Biography:

Concrete Blonde is an alternative rock band dating from the early 1980s to the early 1990s (and re-formed again in the 2000s). They are best known for the poignant songwriting and vocals of Johnette Napolitano.

Singer / songwriter / bassist Napolitano formed the band Dream 6 with guitarist James Mankey in Los Angeles in 1982, releasing an eponymous EP in France on the Happy Hermit label in 1983. When they signed with IRS in 1986, labelmate Michael Stipe suggested the name Concrete Blonde

This is the first song and one of my favorites. It’s real simple. I figured out on my acoustic
with no help from tab etc…just the song and my ear…
So this is nothing fancy just the chord names (please correct me if I’m off).

G D A
Verse: Pick up the phone I know you’re there it’s almost closing time,

D A
And we can toss down one more shot before last call.
G D A A
Are you okay? I swear to God I’ve got to get out of this house,

D A
I miss the days when I’d just not come home at all.

G D A
Chorus: So don’t you cry it’ll give ya lines around your eyes,
G D A
Ya gotta try not to live so much of life alone.

G D A A
And if I see ya getting crazy by the bottom of the bottle,
G D A
Take me home, Take me home, I’ll take you home.

Verse: Remember when we used to stumble down the boulevard,
From bar to bar until we couldn’t stagger straight?
It seemed like we would live forever, life was not this hard,
No we felt nothing much at all but it felt great.

Chorus: So don’t you cry it’ll give ya lines around your eyes,
Ya gotta try not to live so much of life alone.
And if I see ya getting crazy by the bottom of the bottle,
Take ya home, take ya home, I’ll take you home

G D A A
Bridge: If things get better everyday you stay alive,

D A A
Then I’m amazed everyday that the sun decides to rise
G D A A
Every minute, every hour is another chance to change.
G D A
Life is beautiful and terrible and strange.

Chorus: So don’t you cry it’ll give ya lines around your eyes,
Ya gotta try not to live so much of life alone.
And if I see ya getting crazy by the bottom of the bottle,
Take ya home, take ya home, I’ll take you home

Chorus: Now don’t you cry it’ll give ya lines around your eyes,
Ya gotta try not to live so much of life alone.
And if I ya see me getting crazy by the bottom of the bottle,
Take me home, take me home, take me home
