[Intro]
Em

[Verse 1]
Em G
Oh bury me not on the lone Prairie
G Em G
These words came slow and mournfully
G
From the pallid lips of a youth who lay
G Em C Em
On his dying bed at the close of day.

[Verse 2]
Em G
Oh bury me not. And his voice failed there
G Em G
But they took no heed to his dying prayer.
G
In a narrow grave, just six by three,
G Em C Em
They buried him there on the lone Prairie.

[Solo]
Em G Em G Em C Em

[Verse 3]
Em G
Oh bury me not on the lone Prairie
G Em G
where the owl of night hoots mournfully
G
And the blizzard beats, and the wind blows free.
G Em C Em
Oh his lonely pray on the lone Prairy

[Verse 4]
Em G
And the cowboys now as they roam the plain
G Em G
For they marked the spot where his bones were lain,
G
Fling a handful of roses or his grave
G Em C Em
With a prayer to God, for his soul to save.
