(Capo on 1)

**For the D and A chords at the beginning of each verse, do a hammer-on on the first
string, second fret. Then strum it again, do a pull-off, and strum it again. Also do this
in the intro.

Intro.: |(D) |(D) |(D) |(G) |

(Verse 1)
(D)Moon comin' through the pines, (A)crankin' up a country song
(Bm)Heaven right by your side and a (G)Saturday night barely hangin' on
Sun (D)shinin' through the stain glass, (A)comin' just as I am
(Bm)Prayin' that feelin' would (A)last, that feelin' that (G)saves you makes you wanna
(A)raise your hands

(Chorus)
(D)That's the way it was, (A)that's the way it is
When your (Bm)growin' up in the (F#m)mud and the blood the (G)way we did (A)
It (D)got me where I am, and (A)where I'm gonna go
We learned (Bm)all about believin' and (F#m)everything we were (G)ever gonna need to know
Somewhere between the (Em) back roads (A) and the back row (D) (G)

(Verse 2)
I (D)had my first taste of beer, my first (A)taste of a broken heart
There were (Bm)good times, there were tears, but every (G)red dirt memory (A) left a mark
Like the (D)words written there in red like the (A)streets that are made of gold
Where we (Bm)always bowed our (A)heads, where mamma (G)saved our seats and (A)Jesus
saved our souls

(Chorus)
(D)That's the way it was, (A)that's the way it is
When your (Bm)growin' up in the (A)mud and the blood the (G)way we did (A)
It (D)got me where I am, and (A)where I'm gonna go
We learned (Bm)all about believin' and (F#m)everything we were (G)ever gonna need to know
Somewhere between the (Em) back roads (A) and the back (D)row

Solo: / / / |(A) |(Bm) |(G) / /

(Chorus)
It (D)got me where I am, and (A)where I'm gonna go
We learned (Bm)all about believin' and (F#m)everything we were (G)ever gonna need to know
Somewhere between the(Em) back roads (A) and the back row (Bm)

(A) Somewhere between the (Em)back roads (A) and the back row
(D) (A)yeah, somewhere out there, (Bm) between the (G)back roads and the back (D) row

Outro.: |(D) |(A) |(Bm) |(G) ----- (D)
