D Am
Come Friday you'll find me
G Gm
at the Palais de Danse,
D E
In search of excitement,
G Gm
intrigue and romance,
A G Bm F#m
And if Rosalyn McGuire gives me half a chance,
G A G D
I'll show her that I'm Fred Astaire,

A G
Now I've taken lessons
D A
at the best school around,
A G
They say I'm a natural,
D A
too good for this town,

A G
The rest of the week
Bm F#m
I'm a pen pushing clown,
G A G D
But come Friday I'll be Fred Astaire...

D Am G Gm
I've seen all his pictures, I've studied his style,
D E G Gm
The elegant shuffle, the lop-sided smile,
A G Bm F#m
And if Rusalyn McGuire gets within half a mile,
G A G D
I'll show her that I'm Fred Astaire,

A G D A
In this part of Yorkshire, a man is a man,
A G
If he dirinks himself senseless
D A
and somehow still stands,
A G
By Tinseltawn standards,
Bm F#m
I'm not woth a damn,
G A G D
But here I can be Fred Astaire...

C# F#m
"The Belle of New York", and "Easter Parade",

"Holiday Inn', "Night And Day",
B B7 B B7
"The Gay Bivorcee" and "Follow The Fleat",
Em A B
There was a man with the world at his feet...

E Bm
Come Friday you'll find me
A Am
dressed up to the nines,
E F#
My hair will be combed,
A Am
My shoes will be shined,
B A C#m G#m
And if Rosalyn McGuire can spare me the time,
F#m B A E
I'll show her that I'm Fred Astaire,
B A
Out on the dance floor,
E B
My arm round her waist,
B A E B
We'll be the picture of charm and grace,
B A C#m G#m
The rest of the week, I'm just taking up space,
F#m B C#m G# E F#
But come Friday, I'll be Fred Astaire...
F#m B E
Come Friday, I'll be Fred Astaire...
