Clifford T. Ward

Jigsaw Girl

by Clifford T. Ward
Clifford T. Ward

Biography:

Clifford Thomas Ward - Born 10 February 1944, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire — 18 December 2001

Clifford T. Ward typified the early 70s bedsitter singer-songwriter with a series of albums that were at best delightful and at worst mawkish. Ward left grammar school before A-levels to work as a clerk, but by 1962 was fronting local beat group Cliff Ward and the Cruisers. The group changed their name to Martin Raynor and the Secrets and made their recording debut for EMI Records in 1965

Intro C G F G

C G
There’s nothing left for to me to do
F G
But sit around and wait for you
C G F G
And hope you find the time to put me in the picture
C G F G
And when I look at you you've always got somebody new
C G
And though you say you’re mine
F G
You treat me like a fixture
Em F G
It seems that I’m around to pick up all the pieces
Em F G
And when at last they’re found, sort ‘em out again

C G F G
You’re a jigsaw girl
C G F G
Jig saw girl
C G F G
Jig saw girl
Em F G
No sooner we’re together then you go and break us up again
Em F G
an’ so we never will remain

C G
Places where you wind up are not
F G
The sort where I fit in
C G F G
And though you know I’ve tried to see your point of view
C G F G
To you I’m just a game to occupy your scatter brain
C G F G
Oh baby won’t you change or make an effort to
Em F G
Or shall I pull this puzzle apart
Em F G
But that would only break my heart

C G F G
You’re a jigsaw girl
C G F G
Jig saw girl
C G F G
Jig saw girl
Em F G
No sooner we’re together then you go and break us up again
Em F G
an’ so we never will remain
