City And Colour

Cowgirl In The Sand

by City And Colour
City And Colour

Biography:

City and Colour is the recording alias for Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green, who is also the guitarist and vocalist of the St. Catharines, Ontario-based post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. He plays melodic acoustic/folk music, and is often accompanied by a rotating number of Canadian indie rock musicians, such as Daniel Romano and Spencer Burton of Attack in Black. The name City and Colour comes from his own name: Dallas, a city, and Green, a colour.

Cowgirl in the Sand (cover)- Dallas Green
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey this is my first tab,I know its not 100% perfect but its not off by much. I tabbed
off watching him live so it wasn't easy. So this is just a starting point and play around
it.
Tuning: Standard

Chords used:
------Am----Fmaj7---C-----G-----Em-----|D
e|----0------0------0-----3-----0----2--|
B|----1------1------0-----1-----0----3--|
G|----2------2------2-----0-----0----2--|
D|----2------3------0-----0-----2-------|
A|----0-------------3-----2-----2-------|
E|----0-------------0-----3-----0-------|

From what I could tell he would kill the top E string and e string with most of the
and would hammer on the G string 2nd fret with Fmaj7 and C

Intro riff

e|---------------------|
B|--------0h1--3p1--h1-|
G|-----------2---------|
D|---------------------|
A|----0-0--------------|

Hello cowgirl in the sand

Am___________________Fmaj7
Is this place at your command?
C____G_________Fmaj7___G
Can I stay here for a while?

C____G_______Fmaj7_______G
Can I see your sweet sweet smile

Am__Em____________C___________G
Old enough now to change your name

Am___Em___________C__________G
When so many love you is it the same

D___________________________________________C_________G
its the woman in you that makes you want to play this game

---Fmaj7 C Em Fmaj7 G

Repeat intro riff then Fmaj7 pulling off and hammering on the G string

and repeat for the rest of the song

Hello ruby in the dust
Has your band begun to rust
After all the sin we've had
I was hopin' that we'd turn back
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same
It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.

Hello woman of my dreams
This is not the way it seems
Purple words on a grey background
To be a woman and to be turned down
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same
It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.
