Chris Lane

Too Tennessee

by Chris Lane
Chris Lane

Biography:

Chris Lane (born Christopher Eric Lane on November 9, 1984) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He has released one album as frontman of the Chris Lane Band and a second album, Girl Problems, and a third album, Laps Around the Sun, via Big Loud Records.

Lane's signature is the falsetto. In Lane's hands, mixing those earth-shattering high notes with banjo plucks and a danceable beat (whether that dancing is done in cowboy boots or Nike sneakers) has never felt more natural, or so unique.

[Verse]
G C
Well shes city nights and broadway marquee signs
G C
and im just one red light down past an old cafe
G C
and her world spins fast concrete, steel and glass
G C
and mine moves more like molasses on a wednesday
Am D
so how can we love so good and live so differently

[Chorus]
G C
she likes the view from the penthouse suite
G
she likes the sound of those city streets
D C
at 2am when i got satin pillows pulled over my head
G C
and i like taking the long way home
Em
and getting lost down dusty backwood roads
Am
well i cant blame her for not caring where they might lead
C D
well maybe shes too new york, or maybe im too tennessee

[Verse]
G C
she makes me laugh martini in her hand
G C
as shes trying to imitate my southern draw
G C
looking too cute in my old straw hat
G C
but that womans no cowgirl at all
Am D
sometimes it makes me wonder what she sees in me

[Chorus]
G C
she likes the view from the penthouse suite
G
she likes the sound of those city streets
D C
at 2am when i got satin pillows pulled over my head
G C
and i like taking the long way home
Em
and getting lost down dusty backwood roads
Am
well i cant blame her for not caring where they might lead
C D
well maybe shes too new york, or maybe im too tennessee

[Bridge]
C G
maybe i shold question why
C D
and just catch a red eye flight

[Chorus/Outro]
G C
she likes the view from the penthouse suite
G
she likes the sound of those city streets
D C
at 2am when i got satin pillows pulled over my head
G C
and i like taking the long way home
Em
and getting lost down dusty backwood roads
Am
well i cant blame her for not caring where they might lead
C D
well maybe shes too new york, or maybe im too tennessee
