SPIKE DRIVIN' MAN
CHRIS KNIGHT
TRAILER TAPES
Tabbed By: Renfield

D
I musta been born

With steel in my hand
A
Probably gonna die
D
A Spike Drivin' Man

D
I just lay the rail

I don't drive a train
A
But if it jumps the track
D
I'm gonna hear my name

D
Train master says

This train better roll
A
Gotta pull the big boss's
D
cars of coal

D
So I work all night

In the pouring rain
A
I hate the train master
D
And I hate his train

G
Trains roll on and on
D
Don't never turn me lose
Em
I toss and turn all night long
Cadd9 G D
Got the Spike Drivin Blues

D
On my way home

Train blocks the road
A
Always make me wait
D
Make supper cold

D
Then me and my wife

Go to sleep in our bed
A
'Till the high ball comes
D
And wakes the dead

[Repeat Chorus]
[Bridge]

D
Used to ride the caboose

Used to run the brake
A
'Till the bossman said
D
that job aint' safe

D
Now I'm back on the rail

A hammer in my hand
A
I know I'm gonna die
D
A Spike Drivin' Man

[Repeat Chorus]
D
Spike Drivin' Blues

Drive a man insane
A
I hate the train master
D
And I hate his train

**NOTE** Chris periodically plays a hammer-on with his middle finger on the D and A strings
at the 3rd fret - Listen to the recording, it's pretty easy to figure out.
