Loka surge de experimentos en estudio entre Kyriacou y Karl Mark Webb en 1999. El dúo firmó con el connotado sello Ninja Tune, un año más tarde y su primera pista de "My life’s in these bottles" apareció en Ninja Tune' Xen Cuts'(Compilación del sello).
En el 2006 lanzaron su álbum debut "Fire Shepherds" con críticas elogiosas.
Loka ha crecido desde que el dúo comenzó en 1999,la formación actual de esta banda integra a: Guitarra - Karl Webb
