Jim Weatherly

Jim Weatherly was born on March 17, 1943 in Pontotoc, Mississippi. In 1974, he had a top 11 hit with his ballad 'The Need To Be'. His biggest success came as a songwriter for Gladys Knight and the Pips who recorded Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye), The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me, and re-worked 'Midnight Plane To Houston' into 'Midnight Train To Georgia.'
