Gangstarasta terbentuk tanggal 19 Desember 2001. Band ini memilih aliran musik reggae karena jiwa dari musik tersebut dianggap dapat mewakili masing-masing pribadi personil. Dari awal terbentuknya hingga saat ini Gangstarasta telah banyak tampil di musik di Jakarta hingga ke berbagai daerah di luar pulau, seperti : NTT, Sulawesi, Maluku, dan Papua.
