Depois de três álbuns de Grave Digger a banda decidiu mudar seu nome para Digger e comercializado o seu som. Chris Boltendahl mais tarde admitiu que sua principal motivação para essa mudança foi para ganhar mais dinheiro. Isso não saiu como planejado e a banda separou.A banda Hawaii foi fundada por Chris Boltendahl e Uwe Lulis após fracasso comercial de Digger.. mas re-unida no início dos anos 90 sob o antigo nome Grave Digger.
