El grupo musical "City" se formó en 1972, con Fritz Puppel (guitarra), Klaus Selmke (batería), Ingo Doering (bajo), Klaus Witte (Teclado), Frank Pfeiffer (Cantante) y Andreas Pieper (Flauta). Se fundó en la Alemania del Este como "City Band Berlin", cambiando de nombre posteriormente a "City Rock Band" y por último el nombre por el que serían conocidos, "City".
Su mayor éxito es la canción "Am Fenster" (Junto a la ventana), que ha vendido hasta la fecha más de 10 millones de copias.
