Bhakta Raj Acharya

Bhakta Raj Acharya

Born in Dhankuta in 1942, Bhakta Raj Acharya moved to Dooars in India during his early years. He later came to Kathmandu and took part in the Rashtriya Sangeet Contest in 1973 and won the gold medal in both vocals and composition, after which he joined Radio Nepal. During his career that spanned 16 years, he recorded more than 450 songs. "Out of that, only 20 or 25 songs were not his compositions," states his son Swaroop.
